The Cascina La Barbatella winery was founded in 1983 by the Sonvico family. The Sonvico family produced wines rich in tradition and culture earning a multitude of awards and recognition. Located in Nizza Monferrato (Asti), the vineyard is planted with Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvginon Blanc, and Cortese grapes. Just over 20,000 bottles are produced from the 5 hectares each year. In 2010 the vineyard was purchased by the Perego family, Lawrence and Cynthis, husband and wife. The two seek to continue the Sonvico legacy and immerse their love of art into the production of this legendary wine.
