Smoky, creamy, racy, vibrant—this ’08 Pomerol is a tempting study in contrasts. Driving like a family car designed with racecar engineering, this wine showers its drinker with berries, fans them with smoke and flowers, and underlays the whole experience with fresh acidity and tempting tannins. A charming table wine that’s drinking to the end of the decade.

Situated by the eastern exit of Libourne, the Château Plince estate is close to Château Nénin and opposite of Château La Pointe. In 1995 it took the bronze medal at the agricultural show of Paris, then won the gold medal in 2000.
Average vine age is 23 years. Harvest at Plince never starts before 10 a.m., which allows the grapes to dry from morning dew, while machine harvesting permits the swift retrieval of grapes during bad weather or when botrytis strikes.
There are eight cement vats of various sizes (the smallest being 62 Hl while the largest is 132 Hl), some of which are lined with stainless steel. All vats are equipped with streamers, allowing the passage of either cold or hot water, ensuring temperature controlled fermentation which lasts up to 3-4 weeks. Malolactic fermentation occurs in oak barrels. Once completed, the wine goes into barriques, one third of which is renewed annually, for up to 15 months before bottling. The resultant wine is fined but not filtered.
The château is owned by the Moreau family, with commercial oprations overseen by JP Mouiex.
