The best producer of Burgundy that you’ve likely never heard of, Chāteau de Chorey has been in the hands of the Germaine family since the mid-nineteenth century. This organically maintained 42-acre estate of mostly old-growth vines (two thirds of the estate’s vines are 75 years or older, the rest are at least 25 years) has holdings in Beaune, Chorey, Pernand and even some Meursault. Currently in the hands of Benoit Germain, the estate crafts eight red and four white appellations, including Pernand Vergelesses, Chorey les Beaune et Beaune 1er cru Teurons, Vignes Franches, Cras, Cent Vignes, and “Tante Berthe.” In addition to being makers of fine Burgundies, Chāteau de Chorey also serves as a lovely bed and breakfast.
