Situated near Panzano in the epicenter of Toscana’s viticulture, the historic Fontodi estate is regarded as one of Toscana’s most accomplished producers in the Chianti Classico zone. The estate dates back to the 16th century, but its modern era commenced in 1968, when the Manettis, a Florentine family famous for its terracotta production (spanning three centuries), purchased the estate.

The laws governing Chianti Classico’s production have evolved since the 1930s, and modern regimens have become more serious—in ageing requirements, in blending allowances, and in regional demarcation. Fontodi has long been at the forefront of Chianti and this 2006 is no different.
