Textured and vibrant, the ’15 Verdicchio Classico unfurls tantalizing scents of stone and orchard fruits, saline minerals, crushed white flower petals, fresh-cut herbs and citrus zest. This wine has a surprising weight in the mouth, but it gets a lift from its minerality and its zesty inner perfume. Castelli di Jesi is the finest region for Verdicchio, and Sartarelli produces its bottling right in the middle of it. Deriving from vines grown at average altitude of about 1000 feet above sea level, the wine ferments and ages in temperature-controlled stainless steel to transmit the estate’s unique terroir. A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 30% Syrah, each grape varietal ferments separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel; after blending, the wine ages first in stainless steel and then rests in bottle before release.
