Previously called Barolo Bussia, and now just called “Barolo,” even the basic Barolos of Aldo Conterno have garnered a reputation for being generous, open, even genial bottles of wine. Crafted from grapes grown on twenty-year-old vines, this “basic” Barolo is anything but simple. It has a warm, expressive, welcoming nose that ushers you towards a fresh palate laden with fruit, dusted with spices and held in a harmonious, graceful body. There’s not much here that isn’t splendid, which is pretty much what you expect from Aldo Conterno.
