The year 2009 started with large agricultural water supplies due to a rainy winter at the start of the year and autumn in 2008. In mid-March the vines began to sprout. The Xarel-lo came first and had two weeks early on in the cycle in 2008. Still sprouting coincided with March and April rain that made the vines suffer an early mildew attack. With the coming of May and June, though, rains came with higher temperatures providing good vegetative growth bringing the grapes back to perfect health. July brought 41 liters of rain which helped the recharging cycle. May, June, and July began rising average annual temperatures but the decisive month was August, very dry and very hot, which caused an advance on all varieties. It was a quick and very intense vintage.
The Rosado de Nit is a blend of 50% Macabeu, 25% Xarel·lo, 20% Parellada, and 5% Monastrell. The grapes are hand-picked quickly and temperature controlled at each stage with dry ice. The pressing is slow and at low pressure, blending the character of the wine. Static racking was at low temperatures and first fermentation was in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Second fermentation takes place in bottle and the wine ages for a minimum of 15 months. Around 16,000 cases of Rosado were produced.
