Luciano Sandrone is often labeled a modernist because he opts for shorter macerations, the use of some new oak, and shorter aging requirements for his wines. His magical juice does not rely on 225-liter barriques for style (he prefers the 500-liter French oak barrels). Luciano’s training comes from a traditional background at the historic Marchesi di Barolo estate. It is here that he earned and saved enough to purchase his own tiny estate. Now his boutique-style winery with choice plot locations produces some of the richest, most polished Barolos in the region.
