The Scarrone Superiore is sourced from a vineyard situated close to the Vietti winery in Castiglione from vines planted in 1988. Similar to the La Crena, the must rests for eight days in open stainless steel tanks before being transferred to French barriques for 16 months. The wine is held in the tanks for an additional two months before being bottled unfiltered. Offering an aromatic display of red and black cherries with vanilla and hints of brown spice, this wine showcases refreshing acidity, rich tannins and a full body. It exhibits great finesse, excellent balance and complexity.

The Vietti family's viticultural history dates back to the mid-19th century with production formally commencing under the Vietti label at the turn of the century. Alfredo Currado, whose tenure spanned more than 50 years, influenced some of Piemonte's significant viticultural movements. At a very early stage in his career, he became one of the first winemakers to craft single-vineyard bottlings, including Brunate, Rocche and Villero. In 1990 Luca Currado, Alfredo's son, began his winemaking career at the Vietti estate after fulfilling winemaking studies in Bordeaux and California. Luca also presently oversees Vietti's extensive vineyards. The bottles we offer today are representative of the family's philosophy and all crafted from Barbera, albeit from distinct crus across Alba and Asti.
