Established in 2003, Vinosia is quite young, but it certainly is pedigreed, being the project of Mario and Luciano Ercolino, whose parents founded Feudi San Gregorio, one of the estates that galvanized Campanian viticulture, building upon the Mastroberardino familys foundation with concentrated bottlings. (While esteemed for its traditional productions of Taurasi and Fiano, FSG is also recognized for its experimental bent, exemplified in such treatments as its barrique aging of both Fiano and Greco.) Although Vinosia is fundamentally connected to Campania, it conducts a few offsite productions in Puglia. In addition to Essenza Malvasia, Vinosia offers a superlative introduction to Puglias “black and bitter” native, Negroamaro.
