It may take an outsider like Vinosia to generate attention for Puglia's whites. In fact, Vinosia may just show Puglia what it's missing through this bottling, a unique blend of three clones of the aromatic Malvasia grape (Malvasia di Novoli, Malvasia di Candia Aromatic, Malvasia Candida). With a perfumed bouquet of mango and passion fruit, this is a compelling example of Vinosia's talent and Malvasia's potential.
Similar to Toscana, the sunny, Abruzzo climate and cooler nights provide ample climate for the Montepulciano grape. When normally produced, the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo produces a rich red wine; the Cerasuolo style is a rosé version of this wine. After harvest, the wine is in contact with the grape skins for only a few hours leaving a lighter, fresher rosé wine.

Producers in Abruzzo are seeking to maximize Montepulciano's rich core of black and purple fruits through aging in barrique and rigorous processes of selection, producing concentrated offerings. Nose of raspberries and strawberries. A balanced and smooth body, with fruit flavors. Made by consulting winemaker Attilio Pagli, this wine revels in Montepulciano's simple, yet seductive fruit. Quattro Mani, or four hands, showcases a quartet of celebrated Italian winemakers, each of whom crafts wines that express the character and strength of varietals indigenous to Italy.
Celebrate Life Merlot powerfully conveys its Italian roots, maintaining its identity with an ode to the Friulian terroir where it was conceived. The cool climate gives it structure with notes of raspberry, graphite, currants on the nose. In the mouth black cherry, dried figs and chocolate are all wrapped in with very soft tannins. This is a great wine to have readily at hand as it is designed to consumed young.

While Barbera is Piemonte’s most extensively planted grape—constituting over 50 percent of DOC production—it achieves its greatest expression in the Barbera d’Alba, Barbera d’Asti, and Monferrato DOCs. Those derived from Barbera d’Asti are regarded as realizing the most transparent expressions, given their profound articulation of Barbera’s hallmark acidity. DeForville’s traditional orientation privileges a lithe, rustic character.

Fermented in stainless steel then aged in large oak casks and barrique, the Aglianico Rosato is lighter than the more broadly-structured red version of the variety. The wine offers good acidity with bright cherry and flowers on the palate and is perfectly paired with meat and light sauces
Overall, vines in Piemonte were plentiful in 2008, so careful vineyard management was necessary to avoid any rot or other disease from the humidity. Heavy rains eventually transitioned into months of dry weather during harvest, leaving the grapes in perfect form. Made of 100 percent Dolcetto grown on vines planted more than 50 years ago, Clerico’s Langhe Visadi cru is macerated for four to five days; the wine then ages in barrique for six to eight months before revealing a dark, purple-red color with layered perfumes of black fruits and toast.

Bonarda is planted in Argentina (where it's that country's second most widely planted grape) and it may or may not be related to the Lombardian grape--but both produce wines marked by ripe, exuberant fruit and moderate acidity that are easy to drink and to pair with food.
Only the best crus are used for the estate's whites, including the Frecciarossa Riesling Frizzante Nai. A rich and intense white with hints of apricots, tropical fruits and minerals carries through to the long finish.

Made of 100 percent Barbera from the Priocca zone in Piemonte, it is the sand and white clay marl soils and the zone's elevation, 780 meters above sea level that help produce some of the most perfectly-ripened fruit. Once harvested, the wine ferments for five days in stainless steel tanks. Thereafter, it ages in stainless steel for 12 months and then in bottle for two additional months before release. Limited to only 400 cases, this wine denotes raspberries and strawberries with lively acidity and is great with pizza.
Barbera, the approachable Piemontese wine, has a reputation for being a food-friendly wine, and A & GN Fantino's Barbera proves how well earned that reputation is. It's an aromatic Barbera whose floral nose and palate of red fruit and spice will complement a wide swath of lunches and dinners. A happy acidity and a touch of candied lavender make this Barbera a go-to wine when dining al fresco. Drink 2007-2011.

Ca' dei Mandorli of Alto Monferrato have been producing wine for over two centuries. Father and son today work in synergy in order to find modern and innovative solutions, typical of the new generations, while strongly maintaining the roots and the tradition that characterize this historical winery. Light and fizzy, slightly sweet with flavors of wild strawberries and roses.
The Valle dell-Acate estate's dominant soil type, Milaro, is marked by a base of calcareous sandstone interwoven with clay that supports the area's indigenous grapes, including this Frappato. Light to medium-bodied with a memorable length, the wine has profound scents and flavors of berries, especially of raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.

Following the footsteps of great grandfather Cristoforo Ciaccio who planted the first vineyards in 1860 and aged his wines in oak barrels in the cellar of the old stone farmhouse in Fiuminello, the Family DI GIOVANNA has cultivated its fields with unwavering pride and dedication for generations. The indigenous Nerello Mascalese possesses aromas of black cherry and currants, followed by black pepper, dark fruit and chocolate on the palate, which is all supported structurally by supple tannins.
Grown almost exclusively in Piemonte, the late-ripening Grignolino is usually harvested during the last week of September or first week of October. The grape exhibits naturally high acid and soft tannins. Stella’s version is a typical rosé color, light-bodied and dry with an intensely floral and fruity nose.

One of the four vineyards of the La Querciola estate, Chicchivello, is where the grapes are produced for their red of the same name, a structured wine of depth and lean tannins. Made of 40 percent each of Dolcetto and Barbera and 20 percent Merlot, this Langhe Rosso-classified wine is dark ruby red with a rich bouquet of black cherries and plum. Fermented in stainless steel for 8 to 10 days then aged stainless steel for one year before bottling for six months. The Dolcetto and Barbera give the wine its structure while the Merlot is added to soften the rustic blend-a perfect pairing with hors d'oeuvres and meat dishes.
The Gli Orti Riesling from Frecciarossa, produced in the Oltrepò Pavese zone, is a rich and intense white. Hints of apricots and tropical fruits carry through to the long finish of mineral notes.
