The Lighter Side of Quintarelli, Seductive 2018 Bianco Secco!

January 17, 2020
A Note from Sergio

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but every single bottle of Giuseppe Quintarelli's wines defies description. I challenge you to open a bottle of Quintarelli's Amarone, the estate's Valpolicella, or Alzero and adequately describe the experience of drinking it--it's a beautiful, but impossible, challenge. The name "Quintarelli" conjures big, intense, hedonistic reds that justifiably command time and attention, but the Quintarelli estate doesn't begin and end with its commanding reds. It also makes a relatively unknown white, its Bianco Secco, a dazzling, crisp wine that you owe it to your palate to experience.

Today, I'm delighted to debut Quintarelli's minerally, flowery, juicy 2018 Bianco Secco, and this new vintage is spectacular, and whether you're a fan of whites or reds, you're going to love it. Quintarelli makes its Bianco Secco as carefully as it makes its Amarone and Valpolicella, and this delicate, mineral-laden white is priced at just under $45, so it's a value to boot. You can drink this 2018 bottling as soon as it hits your table--or you can cellar it for a few years. No matter when you drink this Quintarelli white diamond, be sure to pour it for people you love. A secret this beautiful demands to be shared.

Enjoy!

TIME SENSITIVE OFFER
BEST PRICE IN THE US!
The late, great Giuseppe Quintarelli rightly earned the respect, fervor and gratitude of wine-lovers for his rich, mind-blowing Amarone, Alzero and Valpolicella wines. While there's no questioning the extraordinary high quality of Quintarelli's red wines, they're tough to enjoy on a regular basis--they're expensive, powerful, and intense bottlings that demand your full attention. This is where Quintarelli's elegant Bianco Secco comes into play. This lilting, mineral-laden white is a blend of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Saorin, and it's utterly delicious. Reminiscent of a Loire Valley Chenin Blanc, the Quintarelli Bianco Secco offers classic lines, a rich mouth-feel, nice balance between its white flowers and white-flesh fruit, and cheek-piquing minerality. Today, we're delighted to debut Quintarelli's elegant 2018 Bianco Secco, a captivating white that could only come from Quintarelli!

Why Buy This Wine:

- The late, great Giuseppe Quintarelli earned the moniker the "Master of the Veneto" for his otherworldly red wines, especially his Amarone, but Quintarelli's prowess isn't limited to reds, and today's Bianco Secco displays how delicious a Quintarelli white can be.

- Stunning and blonde, Quintarelli's Bianco Secco is a seductive blend of white wine grapes that derive from limestone-rich soils; this characterful white shows the lighter side of the Quintarelli magic in its complexity, energy, and style.

- Pressed white flowers, sun-warmed stones, lime zest, and subtle spices frame the crisp green apples and juicy honeydew fruits in Quintarelli's '18 Bianco Secco.

- This delicious white is poised and very pretty, effortlessly balancing its ripe fruits with electric acidity; sneaky minerality lingers on this refreshing wine's complex, sustained finish.

- Priced at less than $45 a bottle, today's Bianco Secco is enjoyable as soon as it hits your table, but it will age nicely over the medium term; contact your portfolio manager to secure yours.

You can make a strong argument that Nebbiolo and Sangiovese are Italy's most emblematic grapes. The first grape is the pride and joy of Piemonte, the essence of Barolo and Barbaresco, and the foundation of tannic, age-worthy wines; the second hails from Toscana, and it's the focal point of Chianti Classico and many Super Tuscans, as well as the delicious bedrock for fresh, earthy wines of varying longevity. Join IWM as our knowledgeable wine expert leads you through these two building blocks of Italian wines, and get an insider's view into regional soil composition, terroir, traditions, and stylistic differences, while adding to your appreciation of Italian wines. It's like a wine tour through the heart and the head of Italy, all without leaving glamorous Union Square.

Campania, Abruzzo, Sicilia, and Puglia--the South of Italy doesn't get as much notice as Italy's North, especially when it comes to winemaking. However overshadowed by their showy northern neighbors, Italy's southern regions are where Italian winemaking began, and they're the sites of undiscovered treasures. Join us as we explore the history, traditions, producers, grapes and styles of Italy's southern winemaking regions. We'll pour wines made from grapes like Aglianico, an indigenous varietal rescued from extinction. Whites, reds and rosés all hail from Italy's South, where you can find surprisingly affordable bottles that are as finessed, age-worthy and delicious as those from the North. Accompanied by regional meats and cheeses, this tasting gives you a tour of wines off the beaten path, where things are wild and thrilling.
