Burgundy’s Best Under-the-Radar? Great Value Champagne and Under $55 Sammarco

August 22, 2013
A Note from Sergio

You’re not going to find much about Burgundy’s Domaine Bachey-Legros on Parker or the Wine Spectator; it’s an under-the-radar estate that makes consistently beautiful, genuine Cote de Beaune Burgundy. This family-owned-and-operated estate, run by Christiane Bachey and her two sons, has been an overwhelming client favorite at IWM. This estate makes some of the best red and white Burgundy values from the regions of Chassagne Montrachet and Santenay, and I’m proud to feature four of the new 2011 releases. You won’t find these Burgundies anywhere else, and they are exactly the kind of wines IWM loves to champion.

Along with the wines of Bachey-Legros, I’m happy to offer Alfred Gratien Brut Rosé, another fantastic value and an IWM favorite, and the 1994 Castello dei Rampolla Sammarco. It’s a wonderful mix of old and new. I founded IWM with the principle of offering my clients the best wine from the most conscientious producers. Days like today, I can look at my work and feel I’ve done well.
