This rich, powerful and refined '13 Chardonnay is loaded with notes of apples, acacia blossoms, pears and citrus, all wrapped in a core of wonderful minerality. Fresh, supple, and rich in its youth, this wine is dazzling; however, as this Chassagne-Montrachet ages, it grows ever more complex, gaining a light golden glow and turning meditative and mellow. Laser-precise, detailed and textured as fine brocade, this intense white Burgundy has a lovely minerality that deepens as the wine ages. Made from 70-100 year old vines, this Morgeot Vieilles Vignes comes from the prized, limestone-rich "Vignes Blanches" portion of Morgeot, making it a perennial favorite of Burgundy enthusiasts.

Christiane Bachey owns and operates this 40-acre estate, founded in 1993, with the help of her two sons Lénaïc and Samuel. It’s a small family operation, one that practices non-interventionist agricultural practices in its vineyard parcels, which are spread mostly across Santenay and Chassagne-Montrachet in the southern part of the Cote de Beaune. Bachey-Legros is a mix of old and new vines, both of which it tends with equal care, harvesting its grapes by hands to make expressive, delicious, value-conscious Burgundies.
