François Gay’s 2017 Triumphant Trio Returns!
December 10, 2019
A Note from Sergio

Burgundy is filled with iconoclastic winemakers, but few rival François Gay for sheer intractability, taciturnity and artistry. If you've never heard of François Gay or drunk the estate's wines, you're not alone. Gay's wines are very much an insider's secret, and even as François turned over the winery's reins to his son, Pascal, nothing has changed: the wines remain excellent, hard to find, affordable, and delicious.

François Gay's Burgundies are probably among the most difficult Beaune wines to find. It's not only the estate's severely limited production; it's also that the wines are that good. François Gay's Chorey has the complexity of Chambolle; the estate's Aloxe-Corton will make fans of this tiny Burgundy appellation; and the domaine's Corton-Renardes is a sleek, sauvage beast. Burgheads know that it's worth seeking out and snapping up Gay's wines whenever they can. Today, I'm excited to announce that the I managed to secure a new allocation of Gay's 2017 trio, and if you love fine Burgundy, you're going to want all of them.

Enjoy!

Francois Gay Corton Renardes Grand Cru 2017 750ml

This is a gorgeous Corton-Renardes! François Gay’s "tête de cuvée," this Corton-Renardes derives from a tiny limestone and clay vineyard just above Corton-Bressandes, and it is a consistent hit with IWM’s Burgundy-loving clients. This ’17 Corton-Renardes delivers on the wine’s reputation, and this vintage is especially dense and elegant. more info
