Holidays are special. There is the food you get to eat only once a year, the gift-giving traditions that happens only once a year, and the people you get to see only during this very special time of year. Sometimes they've changed--grown more mature or more interesting, or perhaps that brashness of youth has mellowed. Other times, they remain exactly as you remember them, and hugging them close, you wonder why you don't see them more often.
Today, I'm very pleased to bring back bottles of wine we've offered before. They're like those friends and relatives you get to see only over the holiday season--just as wonderful as you remember. Today's offer holds two recent bottles from Poggio di Sotto, a longtime favorite Brunello maker. One from the estate's founder and one from its new owner, these two bottles represent both the history of the estate and its future. There's also a gorgeous Gevrey-Chambertin from the cult Burgundy maker Anne and Sébastien Bidault and splits of Franciacorta, Italy's answer to Champagne.
Cheers to embracing those people, traditions and joys that happen only during the holiday season!
