Muscular and velvety, Dugat-Py’s ’13 Mazis-Chambertin is a triumph, pouncing on the attack, slinking across the palate, and sneakily building to a lingering, complex finish. Brambly berries and crisp red fruits meld seamlessly with sun-warmed earth, cool river rocks, black licorice and dried rose petals in this densely coiled yet seductive wine. Tannins are chewy, acidity is bright, minerals are elegant, and the wine’s balance is astonishing. Cellar for a few years before true approachability, then drink for decades. Deriving from the domaine’s tiny Mazis-Chambertin parcel of 70-year-old vines grown in clay and limestone soils, the grapes ferment with whole clusters, and the wine ages in barrique.

For more than thirteen generations, the Dugat family has been making wine, and the estate's current vigneron, Bernard Dugat, has captured the hearts and minds of today's Burgundy-lovers with his 24-acre estate. Working with his wife Jocelyn Py, Bernard and their team work to achieve low yield, high quality harvests, extracting the most from their soils and their grapes, and Dugat-Py’s dedication to quality has helped the domaine redefine the quality of regional, village, and premier cru wines. The end result is that this estate makes some of the most intense, concentrated Pinot Noir wines anywhere in the world. Using strict viticulture and traditional viniculture, Domaine Dugat-Py's wines often set the standard for many premier and grand cru appellations.
