Celebrating the Fine Wines of Fantinel and La Roncaia
February 10, 2020
A Note from Sergio

Working alongside his family, Marco Fantinel runs an empire. But just as Rome wasn't built in a day, neither was the current Fantinel business. It took about forty years for three generations of the Fantinel family to expand from a single restaurant, a couple of hotels and a modest vineyard in the Colli sub-zone of Friuli to its current status of owning twenty restaurants throughout central and northern Italy, producing the very fine Prosciutto di San Daniele, possessing vineyards in three of Friuli's sub-zones, owning multiple wineries, and making some of the best wine to come out of the region.

Today, I'm excited to present fourteen recent releases from both Fantinel and La Roncaia, one of the Fantinel family's satellite estates. Because the Fantinel family began as restaurateurs, they have always approached their winemaking with the aim to create the perfect synergy between wine and food. A Fantinel family wine has an unmistakable ability to taste of its land and its grapes, all while enhancing the flavors of the food you're serving alongside it--it's a beautiful union. Fantinel has been on the forefront of cultivating indigenous Friulian grapes like the tender Picolit, the unusual Rofosco, and the controversial Friuliano. You'll find wines made from these grapes, alongside some more well-known Italian grapes like Pinot Grigio and Ribolla Gialla, as well a few international grapes. Each one is delicious, and that's a high compliment!

Enjoy these Fantinel family wines--pour them for guests and feel like a true Italian host!
