A Note from Sergio
Through the twinned skills of great viticulture and great winemaking, Canalicchio di Sopra rose from poor sharecropper to prosperous producer. Like other winemakers whose families eked out a living in Montalcino for decades, Primo Pacenti relied on the fruits of the land, his know-how, and the luck of his vineyard's terroir. Primo taught his winemaking knowledge to his son-in-law, Pier Luigi Ripaccioli, who taught his children, who carry on the traditions of the proud, self-reliant man who founded the Canalicchio estate about 55 years ago.Today's Featured Sections Include:
Canalicchio di Sopra consistently makes Brunelli that bring together accessibility with longevity, but lately, this winery has seriously upped its game. Ripaccioli has always been a thoughtful winemaker, a meticulous winemaker, and a principled winemaker. Recent vintages, however, have revealed that he's also an artist, and he's approaching his wines with flair, vision, and that magical x-factor that turns really good wines into great wines.
Today, I'm excited to announce that with the 2015 vintage Canalicchio di Sopra has a brand-new Brunello bottling, its cru Brunello La Casaccia (and there's another cru coming with the 2018 vintage to anticipate). Even more exciting, today's offer debuts this new 2015 release, alongside the estate's wonderful 2015 cuvée Brunello. 2015 saw an outrageous vintage for Brunello, and these two 2015 Canalicchio di Sopra wines are utterly gorgeous. You do not want to miss them!
