A Note from Sergio
Dominique Gallois, who helms the cult Domaine Gallois estate, is a strict traditionalist, and he makes wines of stunning depth, elegance, and purity. I have an abiding passion for winemakers who use their regional history as their guide, who consider the environmental impact of their winemaking, and who emphasize earnest, terroir-driven wines over fashion, marketing, or easy sales--and Dominique does all of these things. I love Domaine Gallois for all these reasons, but most of all, I love Gallois because this family-owned estate makes extraordinarily good wines.Today's Featured Sections Include:
Dominique believes that his terroir is responsible for the outstanding quality of his wines. After harvest and pressing, the only thing he does to the juice is daily batonnage, or a brief stirring of the juice in barrel to circulate the lees. Everything else is left to nature, and after tasting Dominique's wines, you'd have a very hard time arguing with his process. Dominique's wines are a breath of fresh air for those of us who appreciate elegance, subtlety and a distinct sense of place in our wines.
Though Domaine Gallois flies under the radar of many wine-lovers, its wines also slide under the price point of most other producers. Today, I'm very excited to announce that I managed to secure a new allocation of Gallois' superb 2016 Charmes-Chambertin, and I'm offering this gloriously rich, vivid wine with special pricing--IWM's Burgheads won't want to miss it!
