Today's eLetter offers the rare occurrence of presenting only French wines--in fact, it's nothing but Gevrey-Chambertin! When IWM first started promoting our Burgundies in our eLetters, we surprised our clients. After all, Italian wines are more than a part of this company's name; they're our first, greatest passion. And yet, it felt like an organic move when I chose to expand beyond Italy's borders and to carry non-Italian wines. After all, IWM's shelves had been stocked with Champagne almost since the doors opened in 2001. Why stop at France's most important sparkling wine?
In choosing the Italian wines for IWM's clients, I have always picked the wines and the producers according to their own merits. I continued using those metrics in selecting the store's French wines (and its Spanish wines, its Australian wines, its Austrian wines, its Californian wines, its Argentinian wines, and so forth across the globe). Using these criteria assures my clients of getting the best of the best--without regard for hype, fashion, press, scores or marketing pressure. I choose wine and think of my work and my soul being represented in those bottles. I want you to have the best I can bring.
Today, I'm very proud to present more than fifty bottles of Gevrey-Chambertin, all at special pricing. These Burgundies are some of my clients' favorites--the extraordinary terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin makes for extraordinary Pinot Noir wines. They're faintly feral, thrumming with power, and more than a little seductive. More than that, this list of Gevrey-Chambertin represents IWM's belief that you deserve the best, most delicious, most authentic bottles we can find. I hope you find some gems, and I hope you share them with people you love, this year and years down the road.
