The Best of ‘14 Bandol Rosés, Latour-Giraud ‘13 Burgundies, and Dal Forno’s ’08 Greatness
July 9, 2015
A Note from Sergio

By now, July 4th may be a fading memory, but Memorial Day will be here sooner than you want it. Summertime is in full swing, and New York City, where I've been for the past week or so, is swaddled in sultry warm weather. As much as we complain about the heat and the humidity, summer weather holds a certain magic, and it deserves to be celebrated--especially by those of us who live in places where it's not warm the whole year around.

Today I'm very pleased to bring you a bunch of wines that are perfect for celebrating summer. Bandol rosés and flinty Meursault are quintessential summertime bottles, and today's offer has both. First, I'm happy to offer the 2014 Bandol rosé from Château Pradeaux and Château de Pibarnon. These two classic rosés gleam with pure optimism in your glass. Just looking at them will make you feel happy, and drinking them on a steamy July night will make you feel refreshed. Second, I'm delighted to offer nine new releases from Domaine Latour-Giraud. This somewhat under-the-radar estate specializes in Meursault and the nine wines below are outstanding.

Finally, because it won't be summer forever, I'm proud to offer new allocations of the 2008 Amarone and Valpolicella by Dal Forno Romano. These are gorgeous reds that drink like music--the Amarone like a symphony and the Valpolicella like chamber music. You could definitely pop this Valpolicella with a big juicy steak, but you'll want to wait on the Amarone; it's young, and it demands cold weather dishes. Don't worry, though, fall is on its way. In the meantime, drink in summer's beauty and summertime's beautiful wines.
