A Note from Sergio
Tenuta San Guido's Le Difese. Tenuta dell'Ornellaia's Le Volte. Tua Rita Rosso dei Notri. Behind every great flagship lies a second or third wine waiting for a chance to prove its worth. We've seen this phenomenon in Bahans Haut-Brion, Valbuena from Vega Sicilia, and Les Forts de Latour, where it reaches its pinnacle. These wines generally derive from the estate's young vines and see fairly short-term aging periods, so they deliver immediate pleasure with grace and a power that holds nothing back.
Today, I'm very pleased to present a new vintage of one of our favorite entry-level wines, Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso 2013. Le Macchiole's Cinzia Merli is a class act; a winemaker who took up the estate's reins after her husband passed away about a decade ago, Cinzia treats her vines like her children, and her wines reflect her unconditional love. This '13 Rosso packs a graceful punch, and the first release from this classic, slow ripening vintage, it gives insight into the beauty to come. Don't miss out--these bottles will go fast!
It's rare that the whole world seems to have a great winemaking year, but that's more or less what occurred in 2010. I made a list of the best and the brightest 2010 wines, and you'll find more than 300 bottles below. And because I don't want you Burgundy lovers to miss out on the greatness of Joseph Drouhin, I've spotlighted this domaine's wines separately. You'll find bottles from 2008-2011, and they are spectacular.
