Quintarelli ’05 Rosso del Bepi Returns, IWM’s Signature White, and William Fèvre Chablis
June 17, 2015
A Note from Sergio

The late, great "Master of the Veneto," Giuseppe Quintarelli, obsessed over his wine. From the vines in the soil to the grapes on the vines, from the pressing of those grapes to the aging in his botti, from the bottling of that wine to the corks that stoppered those bottles, Giuseppe, or "Bepi" to his friends and family, nourished an obsession for crafting the highest quality wine he could make. And for more than sixty years, Bepi made extraordinary wine.

Bepi's exacting craftsmanship meant that he didn't cut corners or lower his standards. In "off" vintages, he'd opt not to make his rocket ship Amarone, choosing instead to declassify the grapes and bottle them differently. That's exactly what happened when he made his 2005 Rosso del Bepi. For all intents and purposes, it's a Quintarelli Amarone--age-worthy, mind-bending, complex, and unspeakably beautiful--but it's a fraction of the price. Today, I'm very proud to offer a new allocation of this wine; I'm sure it's going to fly out of our cellar, so try to catch yourself a bottle before they're all gone.

Quintarelli's wines have long been an IWM staple. So too are the wines from the Antinori family--whether they come from Antinori's roots in Chianti Classico, its outposts in Montalcino or Bolgheri or beyond, Antinori wines consistently take Italian tradition and make that tradition easy for all palates to understand. The family's Cervaro della Sala Chardonnay is a little different. It's like a Meursault as translated by Italian soil, and it is delicious. In fact, it's one of IWM's signature whites, and I'm very pleased to present the 2012 Cervaro della Sala Chardonnay in magnum. From our parties to yours!

Finally, don't miss the 2009 William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Valmur, also in magnum. It's a classic, beautifully wrought Chablis, and on a hot summer day, it feels like a cool, crisp linen shirt. Enjoy!
