Terrific Trios, 70+ Gorgeous Wine Three-Packs at Special Pricing!
June 19, 2018
A Note from Sergio

Three gets a rough rap. There's "three's a crowd" and "third time's the charm," neither of which gives ringing endorsements to three. There's the "rule of three" that says that celebrities always die in threes. There are the sayings "three strikes and you're out," "three sheets to the wind," and "three on a match"--none of these are good things. A three-ring circus may be fun to watch, but as a metaphor it's a chaotic mess.

Today, however, I'm very happy to provide a reason to give three cheers to the number three: a special flash sale on fine wine trios. This list of almost 80 bottles has something for everyone, whether you're new to wine and looking to build a cellar, you're someone with hundreds of bottles laid down, or you're a casual wine-lover who's looking for some really good pours for your next party. If you get lost in this list, ask one of IWM's portfolio managers to guide you--they're all good people, and they'll make picking your wines as easy as one-two-three.

Enjoy!

Per Linda Cerasuolo 2013 750ml
Per Linda Cerasuolo 2013 750ml
Price: $12.99
Currently Unavailable.

Offering a light pink blush complemented by aromatics of dew-laden roses and the pleasing saline mineral tones, this wine complements its ripe bosc pear and smooth flavor of vine-ripened blackberry with a gentle but persistent acidity and fruit-forward flavor. Proof that quality does exist under $15 a bottle, Per Linda Cerasuolo has become a signature on our shelves and is one of our best-selling wines for easy drinking at the table or for pouring at a gathering of friends. Cerasuolo, the Abbruzzese word for "rosé," shows us how delicious and practical a blush wine from the Montepulciano grape can be; pair it with classic fish dishes of the Adriatic (prawns, clams, or fish stew), as well as pizza and tomato-based pastas. more info
Chateau Viranel Saint-Chinian Tradition Rose 2015 750ml
Chateau Viranel Saint-Chinian Tradition Rose 2015 750ml
Price: $18.99

Black and red berries burst from the glass in this food-friendly ’15 Rosé that layers its fruit with citrus zest, chalk, crushed flower petals, herbs and peppery spices. Full yet energetic, this wine whooshes across the palate, but it lingers with a satisfying mouth-feel that marries electric acidity with its fleshy finish. A blend of 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, and 20% Cinsault grown in clay and limestone soils, this wine ferments in stainless steel tanks, and it ages in a combination of 20% used barrels and 80% tank. more info
Domaine Laurens Marcillac Rose 2014 750ml
Domaine Laurens Marcillac Rose 2014 750ml
Price: $18.99
Currently Unavailable.

Ripe red berries and blood orange appear on the spice-accented nose, and these notes echo on the palate. Dry and fleshy, with superb depth, this Marcillac rosé offers bitter cherry and raspberry flavors, making it perfect for wine-lovers looking for a fruit-driven rosé reminiscent of a Pinot Noir rosé. This mono-varietal Fer Servadou, called “Mansois” locally, grows on steep terraces with red clay slopes just west of Rodez in Languedoc, on a hillside terrace at 1,000-1,600 feet above sea level. Domaine Laurens, organic and family owned and operated, harvests its Fer Servadou by hand in early-October, destemming, pressing, and using the saignée method to craft its deep cherry rosé. more info
San Giuliano Roero Arneis 2011 750ml
San Giuliano Roero Arneis 2011 750ml
Price: $22.00
Currently Unavailable.

This fresh-faced winsome wine hails from the Roero region of Piemonte, and although “Arneis” means “difficult child,” San Giuliano’s interpretation is anything but churlish. Delicately floral in scent, ripe white peaches and green apples greet your palate, and a mouth-watering acidity finishes the experience, readying you for your next bite of food or sip of wine. Drinking now, delightfully. more info

Domaine Vico Rouge 2009
Domaine Vico Rouge 2009 750ml
Price: $29.99
Currently Unavailable.

This blend of biodynamically grown indigenous grapes Niellucciu and Sciaccarellu is tempered with Syrah, making a wine as strangely beautiful as the island it calls home, Corsica, a former Roman colony and a land imbued with Italian winemaking tradition. Manly grilled herbs and robust spices greet the nose and form the foundation of the palate of this brooding wine whose notes of black cherry only add to its seductiveness. There's a windswept saline element to this '09 that offers a velvety mouth-feel complemented by a happy acidity. Drinking for the next five years, preferably with meat and other hearty, macho foods. more info
Movia Ribolla 2007
Movia Ribolla 2007 750ml
Price: $39.99
Currently Unavailable.

Although this aromatic, robust, and late-ripening varietal is obscured by both Pinot Grigio and Tocai, the preferred grapes of the international and local scenes, respectively, it enjoys flattering representation in the work of Friuli’s iconoclastic producers. Known as Rebula in Slovenia and Robola in Greece, Ribolla wines are generally dry and buttery, possessing good acidity in their youth. However, age moderates this grape’s juvenile vivacity and many age well, developing a mature richness. more info
Jean-Philippe Fichet Auxey-Duresses Blanc 2015 750ml
Jean-Philippe Fichet Auxey-Duresses Blanc 2015 750ml
Price: $54.99
Currently Unavailable.

Saturated, aromatic citrus and orchard fruits cavort on a framework of loam, crushed rocks, rain-spattered flowers and spice; this ’15 Auxey-Duresses Blanc marries its density with sprightly acidity, and while you can drink it now, it’ll age beautifully over the medium term. This Auxey-Duresses Blanc derives from two sites, Les Nampoillons and Les Closeaux, with vines ranging between forty and fifteen years old; blended together, these two sites create a balanced, delicate yet powerful wine that’s aromatic and intense. Auxey-Duresses Blanc can share some of the great mineral character of Puligny and the citrus of Chassagne, and Fichet’s is a wonderful expression of what makes Burgundy Chardonnay very special. more info
Louis Jadot Pommard Villages 2012 750ml
Louis Jadot Pommard Villages 2012 750ml
Price: $59.99

Delicious, juicy red and blue fruits dance with warm baking spices, freshly tilled earth, and crushed dried flowers in this energetic, broad-shouldered and rustic ’12 Pommard. This is an unabashedly food-friendly red that pulls your ears to the glass with its beguiling aromatics, silky mouth-feel and robust personality. Vibrant acidity and a spicy palate make this bottling very food-friendly. Grapes ferment in tank for about a month, and the wine ages in barrels for twelve to fifteen months before bottling. more info
La Fornace Brunello di Montalcino 2009 750ml
La Fornace Brunello di Montalcino 2009 750ml
Price: $59.99
Currently Unavailable.

Rustic and forceful, this ’09 Brunello explodes from the glass with a burst of brambly berries and ripe cherries, sun-warmed earth, licorice, cracked pepper, baking spices and balsamic herbs. Chewy, full-bodied tannins cling to the cheeks as this wine oozes across the palate to a structured, dry finish inflected with savory minerals and herbs. Deriving from a northeast-facing parcel of vines aged between 16 and 35 years, the grapes ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel with naturally occurring yeasts; the wine ages for three years in a combination of vats, 80% botti and 20% barriques. Just fewer than 900 cases made a year, with very little imported into the States. more info
