Affordable, Approachable Barbera and Barbaresco from Artisanal San Giuliano!
November 26, 2019
A Note from Sergio

Today's eLetter is all about a Piemonte love story, one where Giulio Pastura carries on his grandfather's legacy by crafting some of the highest-quality Piemonte wines available in the States. Giulio and his wife, Mariella Stupino, tend to their San Giuliano vineyards and cellar by themselves, and the make their Nebbiolo, Moscato, Barbera, Dolcetto, Arneis and Brachetto wines with tender-loving care. The San Giuliano winery's love of Piemonte is reflected in the estate's wines, which are pure, captivating expressions that could come from nowhere else but those 15 acres of meticulous vineyards spread across Roero, Asti, Neive and Barbaresco.

I'm proud to bring back San Giuliano's benchmark 2015 Barbaresco, and I'm excited to announce that this outstanding wine is less than $50 a bottle! One of IWM's favorite under-the-radar Piemonte winemakers, San Giuliano makes great, affordable Barbaresco, and it's a feat. San Giuliano's '15 Barbaresco almost gleams as it dances across the palate, and while you can drink it now with decanting, it'll be even better a few years down the road. I'm also happy to debut San Giuliano's lush, electric 2017 Barbera Fiore di Marcorino. This wine shows its ripe growing year in its drink-me-now approachability, and it makes food taste absolutely wonderful.

I think you'll love today's wines--enjoy!
