Podere Le Boncie Rosso di Toscana IGT Le Trame 2011 750ml
Price: $44.99
Currently Unavailable.

Elegant and sophisticated, this ’11 Trame bursts with succulent red and blue fruit, fresh-cut herbs, sun-warmed earth, crushed roses and brooding mocha, notes that perfume this medium-bodied wine’s mid-palate. Vibrant and lively, the wine frames its juicy fruit with spices and pepper, and it balances its bright acidity with velvety tannins to make a food-friendly, unique red. This blend of Sangiovese, Colorino, Mammolo, and Foglia Tonda combines four indigenous biodynamically cultivated Tuscan grapes, the last brought back from the brink of extinction. Podere Le Boncie uses biodynamic methods both in the vineyards, and to honor tradition, the grapes ferments in open-topped vats, aging in mid-size barrels and then in bottles, resulting in wine that’s released about 30 months after harvest. more info

Podere Le Boncie Rosso di Toscana IGT Le Trame 2014 750ml
Price: $44.99

The ’14 Le Trame dwells in its opposites--it’s a frankly seductive wine that entices with a slinky, feral grace. Dusty Tuscan terroir holds fistfuls of juicy red and blue fruits, cedar wood, crushed wildflowers, crushed graphite, umami and spices in this aromatic, thrumming ’14 Le Trama. Pure fruits echo on the palate, where they’re complemented by fine-grained tannins, electric acidity, and a mineral-laden bass line; beautifully balanced, this wine can drink now but it has the stuffing to age for a decade or longer. Mostly Sangiovese blended with a 10% mix of Colorino, Mammolo, and Foglia Tonda, this wine ferments in open-topped vats and ages in mid-size barrels for eighteen months, followed by at least six months in bottle before release. About 1,000 cases made each vintage, with about 250 cases coming to the States. more info

Juicy red and blue fruits rest on a bed of crushed herbs and wildflowers, sun-warmed earth, cedar shavings, baking spices and a kiss of white pepper in this pure, refined ’13 Rosso. The product of a classic growing season, this Rosso vintage is restrained and elegant, but with time in the cellar, it’ll reveal its myriad layers, dusty tannins, and sweet inner perfume. A blend of 90% Sangiovese with the rest composed of Colorino and Canaiolo, the Montevertine Rosso derives mostly from a single six-acre south-southwest facing vineyard planted in 1982. Made in traditional Chianti fashion--fermented in cement vats for about three weeks followed by aging in Slavonian barrels for about two years--Montevertine Rosso is at its essence one of the most pure Chiantis from the maker of the most collectable mono-varietal Sangiovese Super-Tuscan wine, Le Pergole Torte. more info
