Telltale Tuscan earthiness shows in this wine's dense, chewy body, while a piquant acidity offers a Yin-Yang balance. Ripe plum fruit, black licorice, leather, and gamey notes lend this Merlot a rustic Tuscan quality. Sebastiano crafted fewer than 500 cases of this classic Italian Merlot, and it's only available at IWM.

Juicy fruit lays on a brooding foundation of graphite, potpourri, scorched earth, game, and orange zest in this remarkably sophisticated, graceful and nuanced ’04 Bosconia bottling. Grippy tannins and zesty acidity make this wine nimble and vibrant as it builds to a fine crescendo at the finish. In 2004, this wine was a blend of 80% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacho and the remainder split between Mazuelo and Graciano; aged for five years in barrels, Bosconia Reserva is the only wine that López de Heredia bottles in Burgundy bottles. Practicing traditional winemaking at its finest, López de Heredia and its winemaking has changed very little since its 1877 founding; the family adheres to a doctrine blueprinted in the 1880s, still making wine only from their own vineyards, using natural yeasts, long aging in wood, and no filtration at bottling.
