Price: $29.99

2013 was a classic year, and this wine reflects its cool, balanced, and temperate growing season in its elegance, seamlessness and harmony. Succulent red and blue fruits are framed by crushed violets, warm baking spices, fresh-cut herbs and telltale Montalcino earth. Caressing yet nervy, this ’13 Rosso almost dances across the palate with its lively acidity; it’s beguiling and utterly itself. Essentially crafted as a declassified Brunello, this Rosso di Montalcino derives from the same Montosoli vineyards as the estate’s Brunello; the grapes ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the wine ages in medium-sized oak botti. Baricci Brunello di Montalcino 2011 750ml
Baricci Brunello di Montalcino 2011 750ml
Price: $64.99
Currently Unavailable.

Ripe, rich and brooding, this ’11 Brunello shows its warm vintage in its dark notes. Juicy cherries and brambly berries cavort on a foundation of incense, umami, dried herbs, sun-warmed earth, and toasted nuts. While this wine is broad-shouldered and welcoming, a sturdy core of smoky minerals and vibrant acidity keep it nimble all the way to its powerful, lingering finish. You can drink this Baricci Brunello right out of the gate, but it has the structure to cellar for the medium term. Baricci uses non-interventionist practices in farming its Galestro schist-based vineyards that sit at about 850 feet above sea level, and it uses very traditional methods in the cantina too: fermenting in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and aging in medium-sized oak botti. more info
