Maculan Pino e Toi 2017 750ml
Price: $18.99

Crisp orchard fruits and succulent stone fruits dance with crushed river rocks, white flowers, and a touch of spice in this zesty, zippy, and utterly quaffable ’17 Pino e Toi. Aromatic and energetic, this wine shimmers on the palate, powering to a mouth-watering mineral finish that’s touched with notes of tropical fruits. Ideal for appetizers, light lunches, and seafood dishes, this white is a palate-pleasing, wallet-friendly hit.  A blend of 60% Tai (the local name for Friulano), 25% Pinot Bianco, and 15% Pinot Grigio grown in limestone-rich, volcanic soils, grapes ferment separately in stainless steel, and the various component wines age for four months in stainless steel before assembling the blend and bottling.

Miani Friulano 2012 750ml

Elegant, complex, layered, explosive and weighty, the ’12 Friulano from Miani is the perfect white to enjoy in cold weather, but it’s also a gorgeous wine for warm weather too! The fruit of a ripe vintage, this ’12 Friulano is impressively powerful, offering myriad notes of citrus peel, white wildflowers, bitter almond, and light spice. Full-bodied and slightly oaked with concentrated flavors, this wine offers a streak of minerals and a long finish. Located in Friuli's Collio Orientali, a prime sub-region DOC north of Trieste that’s sandwiched between Udine and the Slovenian border, Miani’s vineyards sport a soil known as Ponca soils, marl with limy marine deposits, which make the estate’s whites especially taut, vibrant, and elegant. Estate owner Enzo Pontoni is maniacal about low yields, which means that in low production vintages like 2012, his wines are remarkably textured, complex and opulent.

Layering its sweet tropical and orchard fruits with bright citrus, saline minerals, rain-spattered white flowers, and a kiss of spice, this ’15 Bianco is a subtly powerful treat. Crafted from Tocai Friulano with a bit of Malvasia and Ribolla, this Bianco shows marvelous purity, matching sweetness with a sturdy mineral core; this wine unfurls in the mouth to reveal a silky electricity and a kaleidoscopic palate that changes at every turn. Building to a lingering, luminous finish, this wine shows that it has the structure to drink very nicely over the medium term. Miani has intensely low production numbers--just 8,000 bottles, or fewer than 700 cases across all labels for any given vintage--and demand always outstrips supply for these cult Friulian wines.
Miani Friulano Buri 2013 750ml
Miani Friulano Buri 2013 750ml
Price: $109.99
Currently Unavailable.

The best of both worlds, the Friulano Buri blends grapes from two different parcels of terraced vines, both old: one provides grapes that are intense, flavorful and fruit-forward; the other has grapes that offer minerality, freshness and vitality. The combination makes a Friulano that marries aromatics with structure to create an age-worthy, serious white. Miani privileges terroir in making its wines, and thus presses gently, ferments in barrels and only employs malolactic fermentation except for Chardonnay, all without temperature control and using only indigenous yeasts.
