Bright pink in the glass, this ’15 bottling offers electric elegance, bursting with red berries and citrus fruits, spice and wildflowers. Dry and fleshy, this Marcillac rosé offers bitter cherry and raspberry flavors, making it perfect for wine-lovers looking for a fruit-driven wine reminiscent of a Pinot Noir rosé. This mono-varietal Fer Servadou, called “Mansois” locally, grows on steep terraces with red clay soils just west of Rodez in Languedoc, on a hillside terrace at 1,000-1,600 feet above sea level. Domaine Laurens, organic and family owned and operated, harvests its Fer Servadou by hand in early October, destemming, pressing, and using the saignée method to craft its deep cherry rosé. more info

Raspberries, cassis and gooseberries cavort on a bed of white flower petals, toasted brioche, peach jam, acacia honey and crushed river rocks in the captivating ’11 Franciacorta Cru Perdu. Fine perlage tickles the palate, while the wine finds compelling tensions between its succulent fruits, vivid acidity, and penetrating minerality. Very dry and highly enjoyable, this Franciacorta wine might be your new favorite alternative to Champagne! In 1986, Castello Bonomi’s chef de cave, Luigi Bersini, took a walk in the woods and found an abandoned vineyard. This 10-acre vineyard is the source of the wine’s name and the grapes for Bonomi’s most popular Franciacorta bottling, its CruPerdu. A blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, grapes ferment in temperature-controlled steel and wood vats; part of the cuvée’s second fermentation takes eight months in vats before blending and bottling, where the wine ages on the lees for 36 months. more info

Christopher Deas, Italian Wine Merchants: “Here is an exciting new release that made us do a double-take for so many reasons. It is a Sangiovese and Pinot Noir blend from the iconic Montalcino producer Cerbaiona. Additionally, it is a multi-vintage blend of 2018 and 2017, and contains some prized fruit from Poggio Scalette. More important than all these critical parts, the wine truly captured our attention with its soft, silky texture and classic Sangiovese spine. It is a juicy and expansive mouthful of red and blue fruit that maintains its signature lift and brightness. You can expect nuances of black cherry, wild raspberries, plum, violets, herbs, minerality and a touch of baked earth. On top of all that, the wine is under $29. It is a lot of wine for the price and it is the perfect everyday drinker.” more info

2018 CRISTOM VINEYARDS MT. JEFFERSON CUVEE PINOT NOIR
Christopher Deas, Italian Wine Merchants: “I have preached about this so many times before – if you wanna fall in love with Oregon Pinot Noir...look no further than what is the signature of the region! And with the 2018 vintage and its consecutive run, this our Lou Gerhig of American Pinot. Sure, it has Burgundian sensibility, but it screams Willamette Valley and not Sonoma. Its intoxicating nose once again grabs you by the nostrils from across the table with notes of rose petals, black raspberries, sour strawberries, macerated cherries, cranberries, star anise, with citrus, herbs, chalk, and salinity joining the party on the palate. There’s plenty of generous ripe 2018 fruit here, and it is a slightly richer, more powerful wine than the leaner 2017. However, the signature brightness and savory note of this wine remains on full display. There is simply a mastery of whole cluster fermentation and this is a wine that is about balance, tension and energy, with an awesome core of rich fruit – just hinting at its full potential. It is a wine that evolves and changes in the glass, with an inner perfume that just echoes and lingers on the finish - so enjoy this over the evening with food, family and friends. What can I say that has not been said before – this is just an awesome expression of Pinot Noir delivered with tremendous value.”
