Tenuta San Guido Le Difese 2017 750ml
Ready-to-drink upon release, the sappy ’17 Le Difese is a delicious, open-knit treat! Juicy red and blue fruits layer with fresh loam, baking spices, crushed herbs, and touches of underbrush, dried cherries, and cigar wrapper in the silky, aromatic ’17 Le Difese. Fine-grained tannins cling to the cheeks as the wine’s kinetic acidity powers it to a lingering, precise and food-friendly finish. The third label of Tenuta San Guido, the pioneering Super-Tuscan estate that transformed Italian winemaking in the late '60s, Le Difese provides a rare opportunity to experience a taste of the legendary Sassicaia for just $30. A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese grown in limestone-rich soils, Le Difese ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel and ages for eight months in oak barrels that previously aged the estate’s Sassicaia and Guidalberto.
Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2016 750ml
Tenuta San Guido is calling the 2016 vintage “one of the best of the last decade,” and this ’16 Guidalberto is elegant and velvety, lively and complex, aromatic and profound. Lush, juicy red berries and succulent plums dance with warm saddle leather, tarry earth, crushed violet petals, melted chocolate and grilled herbs in this energetic, finessed and fully fleshed wine. Silky tannins and copious dry extract cling to the cheeks, but for all this wine’s generous ripeness, it retains a fresh, acidic kick. There’s no question that the 2016 is one of the best Guidalberto bottlings we’ve seen! A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Guidalberto offers richness and density that’s balanced by vigor, precision and freshness; this wine ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by aging for fifteen months in barriques and three months in bottle before release. Accessible upon release with some decanting, this ’16 Guidalberto will be even more lovely in a few years, making this a wine to secure by the case.
Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2017 750ml
Perfumed, precise, and peppered with fresh herbs, the ’17 Guidalberto frames its lush red and blue fruits with sweet spices, warm tobacco, and touches of wood, violet petals, and blood orange. The muscular ’17 Guidalberto is a tightly coiled wine that simultaneously flexes its chewy tannins, vibrant acidity, and lovely floral lift in harmonious balance. Intense yet focused, this wine’s sustained, powerful finish suggests that it’s ideal for aging, but its succulent fruit means you can enjoy it right now with some decanting. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Guidalberto offers richness and density balanced by vigor, precision and freshness; this wine ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by aging for fifteen months in barriques and three months in bottle before release. Accessible early with liberal decanting, the ‘17 Guidalberto will achieve its true beauty in a few years, making this a wine to secure by the case.

Terriccio Castello del Terriccio 2008 750ml
Incense, tapenade, cigar wrapper, sauvage underbrush, and potpourri frame the red and black fruits in the 2008 flagship wine from Castello del Terriccio. Balanced and vibrant, this wine almost shimmers with energy, coating the cheeks with round tannins and dry extract. This blend of 50% Syrah, 25% Petit Verdot and the remainder other red grape varieties ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel for 18 days before undergoing malolactic fermentation for one month; the wine ages in French oak for about 22 months before bottling. Located in the Maremma, Castello del Terriccio builds on the legacies of Sassicaia, Ornellaia, and Il Macchiole, and this Super Tuscan will thrill wine-lovers who can't get enough of those iconic wines.
Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2001 375ml
We expected great things from the 2001 vintage. The grapes were picked prior to arrival of the late rains, thus creating a wine of great elegance and perfume. The nose on the '01 displays an elegant floral fragrance with touches of cassis, black wild berries and cherries. Additionally the wine exhibits complex, dry and sapid flavors, supported by firm tannins and slightly peppery quality; lingering and persistent aftertaste.
Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2017 750ml
Rich yet racy, explosive yet nuanced, and seductive yet structured, the 2017 Sassicaia is superb. Layers and layers of succulent red and brambly blue fruits rest on a foundation of warm baking spices, fresh earth, crushed flower petals, balsamic herbs, underbrush, and cherry cordial in this fascinating, lush Sassicaia bottling. Wrapping its ultra-ripe fruits around a serious mineral core and a firmly acidic spine, this Sassicaia relishes the play among its elements, finding a striking balance between overt fleshiness and racy tautness; fine-grained tannins fleck the lingering, resonant finish. A blend of about 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and about 15% Cabernet Franc, Sassicaia’s grapes derive from vineyards with clayey, limestone-rich soils. Tenuta San Guido ferments its Sassicaia in temperature-controlled stainless steel with only indigenous yeasts, and the wine ages in French oak barriques for about two years followed by time in bottle before release.
