Balsamic herbs, flinty soil, warm spices, potpourri and berry jam frame the pure, opulent red and blue fruits in the ’15 Bocca di Lupo. Balanced and beautiful, this wine’s firm tannins cling to the cheeks as elegant minerality and fresh acidity propel the wine’s resonant finish. After allowing the Aglianico grapes to ripen fully, Tormaresca vinifies them in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and the wine ferments in barrique for fifteen months and ages in the bottle for two years before release. While Aglianico frequently requires time in the cellar before enjoyment, this bottle from Antinori's Tormaresca allows for earlier approachability, yet it sacrifices nothing for longevity.
- Country: Italy
- Region: Puglia
Tormaresca, Antinori’s outpost in Puglia, is headquartered in Minervino Murge in the heart of Salento. The 620-acre Tormaresca estate, founded in 1998, has two locations: the 247-acre Tenuta Bocca di Lupo in the Castel del Monte D.O.C., and the 1,235-acre satellite called Masseria Maime in Salento, close to the Adriatic sea. Tormaresco draws from the two locations to create wines that offer a panoramic view of Puglia. As with all of Antinori's estates, Tormaresca rests in the capable hands of CEO, enologist and winemaker Renzo Cotarella and his team, who work to craft wines that transmit the region’s unusual volcanic terroir in a range of wines that span red to rosato to white, and indigenous to international grapes.
