Eroica Riesling 2015 750ml
Named after Beethoven’s Third Symphony, Eroica reflects a perfect union of its German roots and its Washington State terroir, and this 2015 is a brilliant Riesling bottling! Sweet oranges, vibrant limes, and succulent tropical fruits dance with crushed white flower petals, spices, crushed gravel, and a kiss of petrol in this off-dry Riesling. Balanced and textured, his wine is so energetic that it almost dances across the palate, and it’s structured enough to drink beautifully for the next decade, and it over-delivers on its very modest price point. A cuvée of grapes, the Riesling for this wine derives from Viewcrest Vineyard in the Yakima Valley, as well as the Viewcrest, Lawrence, and Jones Brothers vineyards. Grapes ferment in temperature-controlled tanks, and each lot ages separately with a final blend crafted to reflect balance and typicity.

No shrinking violet, this Rosé from Oregon’s Willamette Valley this beautiful Pinot Rose that bursts with tart berries, hints of brioche and vanilla. Crafted from 80% Pinot Noir, and the remainder Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer, this wine offers complexity, fantastic aromatics and the kind of minerality that winemaker Tony Soter and Oregon have grown famous for. And outstanding match with anything from antipasti to pasta and lean red meats, this wine is also a tremendous value at its price point.

Peppery, spicy and silky, this ’12 Chambolle-Musigny wraps its luscious, brambly berries and cherries in seductive notes that range from sweet licorice to savory wood smoke. Fresh yet caressing, this wine dances on the palate with vibrant acidity, studding the mouth with chewy tannins, and building to a resonant finish. While enjoyable young, this stellar Michèle & Patrice Rion will drink beautifully over the medium term, rewarding the Chambolle-Musigny enthusiast with a finessed, classic evocation of the appellation. Deriving from the estate’s parcel of 60-year-old vines, the grapes for this wine ferment in open stainless steel tanks for about three weeks; the wine ages in oak, about half new, for eighteen months before bottling.

It’s a gracious, welcoming wine that glides across the palate with a silky elegance, scattering fine-grained, polished tannins in its wake. Unabashedly hedonist, this is a California red for wine-lovers who appreciate perfect balance and a suave mouth-feel. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot, this wine aged for 22 months in entirely new French oak before bottling.

Bursting with juicy black and red fruits, crushed flowers, pressed sage and mint, warm baking spices, pencil lead, and loam, this is an electric, expressive evocation of this cult Napa Valley wine. At once precise and enveloping, this wine snuggles the palate as it moves with an electric acidity, studding the cheeks with tannins. Breathtaking balance between its elements make this ’12 Cabernet Sauvignon enjoyable now, but they also lend age-worthy structure to this blockbuster wine.
