Vietti
The Vietti family’s viticultural history dates back to the mid-19th century, with production formally commencing under the Vietti label at the turn of the century. Vietti winemaker Alfredo Currado’s tenure has spanned over 50 years, and his efforts have influenced some of Piemonte’s significant viticultural movements. At a very early stage in his career, he became one of the first winemakers to craft single-vineyard bottlings. He also engaged in a long-term rigorous study of the Arneis grape, a varietal that a few vintners sought to revitalize in the late ’70s and early ’80s, salvaging it from its sacrificial role in the vineyard (where it protected the red grapes from birds). The Vietti Arneis bottling is now recognized as one of the foremost expressions of the grape.
