Juicy red and blue fruits are dusted with spice and earth, strewn with wildflowers and fresh-cut herbs, and kissed with minerals. Caressing and soft, this ’12 Rosso di Montepulciano is nonetheless food friendly and vibrant, pulling you back to the glass with every bite. Primarily Sangiovese (80%), the remainder of this wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Canaiolo, Mammolo and Colorino; the grapes ferment in vats for about two weeks, and the wine ages in oak barrels for ten months and bottles for a year before release.
- Country: Italy

- Commune/Village: Abbadia di Montepulciano
In the rolling hills near the village of Abbadia di Montepulciano in southern Toscana sits Villa Sant’Anna, a small family-owned-and-operated estate helmed by Simona Ruggeri Fabroni and her two daughters, Anna and Margharita. While this estate primarily grows fruits and vegetables, it devoetes about 25 acres of its hillside acres to viticulture, and from these acres, the estate makes its four wines and a stellar Vin Santo. Not to be confused with Montalcino, the home of Brunello, the wine region of Montepulciano abuts Chianti, and it’s famous for two wines, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Rosso di Montepulciano, and Villa Sant’Ana crafts both, as well as an evocative Chianti. Dedicated to traditional viniculture, terroir, and the environment, Villa Sant’Anna is the kind of winemaker that IWM prides itself to introducing to our clients, so they can enjoy the estate’s rustic, charming wines as much as we do.
