The 2019 bottling is an opulent, vertical expression of terroir with aromatic layers of crème de cassis, kirsch, licorice, and exotic spice. Full-bodied, it unfolds a powerhouse of concentrated dark fruit, finely grained tannins, and bright freshness, supported by a long, mineral-laced finish—noted for its seductive intensity. Critics praised its balance and richness with scores including 98 from Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 97 from Jeb Dunnuck, and 96 from Wine Enthusiast, all forecasting a spectacular evolution from around 2025 through the mid-century.  

Château Calon‑Ségur, a revered Troisième Cru Classé from the Saint‑Estèphe appellation, springs from one of the Médoc’s oldest estates, now lovingly tended by the Capbern‑Gasqueton family and revitalized under the guidance of technical director Vincent Millet. Spread across a walled, gravel-rich terroir, the estate embraces high-density planting, precision viticulture, and modern winemaking innovations—including cold-soak extraction and gravity-flow cellars—to achieve a remarkable balance of power and elegance.
