The 2015 Langhe Rosso is a blend (predominantly Freisa with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) offering ripe red and dark berries, wild herbs, and subtle spice. On the palate it is medium‑bodied, with supple structure, bright acidity, and a polished finish that shows both fruit and elegance rather than raw power.
Poderi Aldo Conterno is a storied Barolo estate in Monforte d’Alba, founded in 1969 by Aldo Conterno after his departure from his brother’s holdings. The estate is now run by his three sons—Franco, Stefano, and Giacomo—who continue the philosophy of precision, patience, and respect for terroir. They manage vineyards across the famed Bussia cru (Romirasco, Cicala, Colonnello) as well as other parcels for secondary wines. Conterno is known for using long aging in large Slavonian oak casks (botti), low yields, and minimal intervention in the cellar—favoring wines built for long evolution rather than immediate showiness. The estate also produces entry-level and side bottlings (e.g. Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera, Rosso) which carry the house’s structural backbone and clarity even at more accessible levels.
