The 2019 Ampodium is a beautifully crafted Côte‑Rôtie that balances richness with elegance. Its profile features ripe dark fruits layered with smoky notes, coal dust, red cherry vibrancy, peppery spice, and floral aromatics. The palate is medium to full-bodied, plush yet structured, with firm tannins and a beautifully layered finish. Critics have responded enthusiastically—93 points from Parker’s Wine Advocate, 94 from Vinous, and 93 from Jeb Dunnuck—highlighting its meaty classicism, finesse, and extended aging potential through at least 2032.
Domaine René Rostaing, now guided by Pierre Rostaing, embodies the essence of classic Côte‑Rôtie winemaking. With about 7.4 hectares under vine, the estate spans multiple lieux-dits and honors traditional techniques—long, gentle macerations, up to 100% whole-cluster fermentation, and aging in minimal new oak (no more than 15%). Ampodium, the estate’s signature blend (formerly known as “Classique”), represents fruit from across Rostaing’s holdings—highlighting purity, perfume, and restrained power, rooted deeply in terroir-driven expression.
