The Brunello di Montalcino 2021 shows pure red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, and crushed stone, with subtle herbal and spicy undertones. The palate is precise and structured, with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity driving a balanced, elegant profile. Flavors of sour plum and mineral nuances unfold with clarity, leading to a long, fresh, and finely etched finish with strong aging potential.
Pieve Santa Restituta is the Brunello di Montalcino estate of Angelo Gaja, one of Italy’s most visionary and influential winemakers. While Gaja built his legacy in Barbaresco, his acquisition of the historic Pieve Santa Restituta estate in the mid-1990s marked his commitment to expressing Sangiovese Grosso at the highest level in Montalcino. The estate, located in the southwestern subzone of Montalcino near Santo Restituta, combines tradition with modern precision: organic farming, strict fruit selection, and restrained use of oak to respect the varietal’s integrity. The wines are vinified with native yeasts and aged primarily in large casks (botti) with a modest portion of smaller barrels. The Brunello di Montalcino bottling blends fruit from different estate parcels and represents Gaja’s interpretation of balance, structure, and elegance within the Brunello discipline.
