The quality of the red Sulcitane grapes, not only in terms of color, but also for the smoothness of its soluble compounds - from the tannins to the consistently low and elegant acidity and the smoothness of its main components. Its polyphenolic apparel is of a distinguishably sweet, extremely delicate, round tannin weave chromatically embroidered with refined anthocyanins. Lively, deep ruby-red. Complex scent of ripe red fruit (mainly black cherry), spices, notes of liquorice and hints of myrtle. An elegant wine that shows an impeccable workmanship; notes of sage and myrtle with aromas of ripe red fruits and pepper in a persistent and harmonious finish.
When you’ve been the principal technical and creative architect of one of Italy’s most esteemed and transformative wine categories, you’re really not going to have much time for outside interests. One would imagine that Giacomo Tachis—one of the pivotal minds behind the legends of the Super-Tuscan movement (Sassicaia, Tignanello, Solaia, and Solengo, just to name a few)—wouldn’t be looking beyond his numerous Tuscan involvements, especially to pursue an affair with a region that has a past with bulk production, distinguishing itself, if at all, on the basis of some sweet wines, many of which are on the verge of extinction.But Tachis just didn’t see Sardegna quite like that.
