Tenuta del Nicchio “Il Nicchio” 2021

Crafted under the direction of Marchese Lodovico Antinori, Il Nicchio is the estate’s flagship wine, sourced from select parcels of gravelly, well-drained soils in Bolgheri. The blend — 95% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot — is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks before aging for 18 months in new French oak barriques. The wine rests in bottle for an additional year before release, allowing its structure and aromatics to harmonize.

The 2021 Il Nicchio opens with a deep garnet hue and a commanding bouquet of wild blackberry, plum, and cassis, layered with graphite, cedar, and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is rich and tightly woven, showing remarkable depth and precision — dark fruit wrapped in fine, polished tannins and lifted by vibrant acidity. Notes of cocoa, tobacco, and crushed stone linger through an exceptionally long, poised finish. A wine of power and grace, it evokes the style of great Right Bank Bordeaux while remaining distinctly Tuscan.

Tenuta del Nicchio “Le 2 Ville del Nicchio” 2023

Le 2 Ville del Nicchio represents the estate’s second label — a more approachable yet refined expression of the same terroir. Composed primarily of Cabernet Franc with a portion of Ciliegiolo, the grapes are hand-harvested and vinified separately in stainless steel before aging partly in second- and third-fill French oak barrels for 10–12 months. The result is a vibrant, youthful wine that highlights freshness and aromatic clarity.

The 2023 Le 2 Ville offers bright ruby color and a perfumed nose of red cherry, raspberry, and violet, complemented by hints of sage and sweet spice. Medium-bodied and silky, it shows juicy red fruit flavors supported by supple tannins and a fine mineral edge. The finish is lively and pure, making it an elegant, modern expression of coastal Tuscany with unmistakable refinement.
