Pierre Girardin has rapidly emerged as one of Burgundy’s most coveted new names, embodying nearly every trait associated with a cult producer, scion of a family with thirteen generations of wine-growing heritage. Despite releasing his first vintage only in 2017, he immediately gained access to some of the Côte d’Or’s most hallowed terroirs including Montrachet. Production is exceptionally small, with minuscule parcels and rigorously low yields ensuring that each bottling is scarce and fiercely pursued. Collectors and critics alike praise the wines for their precision, clarity, and purity of expression, and demand already far exceeds supply. Girardin’s minimal- intervention approach, use of custom barrels to control oak, and commitment to biodynamic principles have given his domaine a distinctive identity and a loyal following, cementing his reputation as one of Burgundy’s most exciting—and exclusive—rising stars.
Today we bring in two of his most sought after and hardest to obtain wines.
2023 Meursault 1er Cru “Perrières” A striking expression of one of Burgundy’s most prestigious white wine sites. Made from 100% Chardonnay grown on old vines (over 55 years) in the “Dessous” section of Perrières, the wine is farmed organically and fermented with indigenous yeasts before aging 12 months in 100% new 456liter barrels and an additional seven months in stainless steel. Unfined and unfiltered, it captures a pure, precise expression of its terroir. On the nose, it shows delicate white flowers, crushed stone, beeswax, and hazelnut, initially reserved but opening with air. The palate balances citrus, lemongrass, and subtle tropical notes with a rich, sculpted mid-palate and a salinetinged, mineral finish. The texture is both dense and elegant, combining the hallmark minerality and finesse of Perrières with a weight that suggests serious ageing potential. While approachable now with decanting, the wine is built for the long term, promising greater complexity and harmony over the next decade.

2023 Le Montrachet Grand Cru from Domaine Pierre Girardin is an exceptionally rare and meticulously crafted white Burgundy. Produced from old vines in the "Dessous" section of the Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard, this wine exemplifies Girardin's commitment to quality and precision. The grapes are farmed organically, with fermentation occurring using indigenous yeasts. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in 100% new 456-liter barrels, allowing for optimal integration of oak and preservation of the wine's purity. After barrel aging, the wine undergoes an additional 7 months of maturation in stainless steel to enhance its freshness and minerality. The wine is unfined and unfiltered, ensuring minimal intervention and maximum expression of the terroir. The production of this Grand Cru is extremely limited, with approximately 1,200 standard 750ml bottles produced annually. This scarcity, combined with the wine's exceptional quality, contributes to its status as a highly sought-after collector's item. The 2023 vintage is particularly notable, as it showcases Girardin's ability to produce a wine of great depth and precision, earning accolades from critics and wine enthusiasts alike.
