Poggio di Sotto, founded in 1989 by Piero Palmucci in the southeastern corner of Montalcino near Castelnuovo dell’Abate, quickly rose to cult status for its uncompromising devotion to Sangiovese purity. The estate’s vineyards sit between 200 and 450 meters above sea level on galestro and marl soils, benefitting from both the warmth of the southern exposures and the cooling breezes from Mount Amiata.
