New Release Giuseppe Quintarelli RARE vintage Amarone and Valpolicella

Giuseppe Quintarelli stood as the towering figure of Valpolicella, a winemaker whose philosophy transformed a regional tradition into something transcendent. Long before Amarone achieved global fame, Quintarelli devoted himself to uncompromising quality, insisting on minuscule yields, painstaking hand selection of grapes, and the slow, natural fermentations that allow the essence of the vineyard to shine. Every decision in his cellar—from the months-long drying of the grapes in ventilated fruttai to the decades of aging in large Slavonian oak casks of various sizes—reflected a commitment to patience, integrity, and harmony, rather than fashion or profit. The result is wines that express not just Valpolicella, but the very soul of the land itself, each bottle a testament to time, craft, and vision.

No other producer in the region approached the depth, balance, and enduring complexity of a Quintarelli. His Amarone and Valpolicella achieve a rare synthesis of power and elegance, of richness tempered by savory restraint, that sets them apart from every other wine of the area. While many winemakers chase immediate appeal, Quintarelli waited, often years or decades, until the wine itself declares it is ready, creating legendary wines that evolve slowly and live for generations. His influence is felt not in flash or hype, but in the subtle mastery of structure, tannin, and aromatic depth, a signature impossible to replicate with modern shortcuts.

To hold a bottle made by the late Quintarelli himself—whether the 2011 Amarone or the Valpolicella vintages of 2007, 2008, and 2010 featured today—is to encounter something profoundly rare and extraordinary. These are wines made in vanishing quantities, each a living piece of Italian wine history, rich with the weight of tradition and the voice of the master himself. Cellared together, they represent not only exceptional drinking experiences but a rare opportunity to connect with the genius of a man whose vision set a standard the rest of the region can only aspire to. Such bottles are treasures, remarkable not only for their quality, but for the sheer improbability of their presence, ready to reveal their timeless depth to those fortunate enough to experience them.

Giuseppe Quintarelli Amarone della Valpolicella 2011

Made from a traditional blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and minor local varieties, the grapes are hand-harvested and slowly air-dried for months in well-ventilated fruttai, concentrating both sugar and structure. Fermentation is long and patient, followed by extended aging in large Slavonian oak botti for years, allowing the wine to evolve naturally without haste or cosmetic intervention. Quintarelli’s Amarone is never about power alone, but about balance, bitterness, and a distinctly savory soul shaped by time. The 2011 shows dried cherry, fig, bitter cocoa, leather, herbs, and balsamic notes, with a long, aristocratic finish carried by firm yet refined tannins.

Giuseppe Quintarelli Valpolicella 2007

This Valpolicella is crafted from the same noble varieties as Amarone, fermented traditionally with native yeasts and aged patiently in large oak, reflecting Quintarelli’s belief that even “simple” wines deserve profound care. Often incorporating a small portion of dried grapes, it gains extra depth and quiet complexity without tipping into sweetness or excess. The 2007 vintage offers a more mature expression, shaped by a warm year and long cellar aging before release. On the palate it reveals sour cherry, dried rose, tobacco, spice, and a subtle earthy bitterness that lingers gracefully.

Giuseppe Quintarelli Valpolicella 2008

Produced with meticulous vineyard selection and slow, traditional vinification, the 2008 Valpolicella emphasizes freshness and inner tension rather than richness. A restrained use of partially dried grapes adds dimension while preserving the wine’s lifted, food-friendly character. Aging in large oak allows the wine to integrate naturally, emerging as a quiet but deeply expressive Valpolicella. The tasting profile is precise and elegant, with red currant, cherry skin, alpine herbs, iron, and a lightly savory, mineral finish.

Special Price $229.99 - 20 Bottles Available

Giuseppe Quintarelli Valpolicella 2010

From a more classical vintage, this Valpolicella highlights balance, aromatic clarity, and structure built for long life. Quintarelli’s slow fermentations and extended aging tame the wine’s natural acidity and tannin without sanding away its personality. As always, the wine was released only when the family felt it had reached harmony in bottle. It opens with bright cherry, dried flowers, orange peel, and spice, finishing with remarkable freshness, fine tannins, and a long, quietly persistent echo.

Special Price $199.99 - 8 Bottles Available
