This is one of those wines where the color alone is worth the price of admission, you can stare into it and quite literally see Sangiovese Grosso purity at its finest. More importantly, it is the most complete expression we have tasted from the 2016 vintage. Yes, it is showing the upright and classic nature of vintage, but with a little air-time the ripe fruit gains weight and fills the glass. There is a richness to accompany the firmness of the house and vintage for what is a deep, sophisticated Brunello. You can expect nuances of bright cherry, black cherry, plum, citrus peel, cinnamon, cedar, a touch of underbrush and minerality. I was simply awesome to taste these side-by-side with the sibling single vineyard expression. The Normale is more finessed than the La Casaccia, that is more robust and chewy. This is another top recommendation from the must-by vintage.

The northern zone, the area relative to Canalicchio, evidences a cooler climate than that of its southern counterpart; this northern terrain receives limited exposure to both the Mediterranean influence of Montalcino and the cooling breezes that the latter's high altitude a
