The 2015 Château Rauzan‑Ségla opens with a deep garnet‑purple hue and an alluring bouquet of crushed blackcurrant, kirsch, lavender, violet and tobacco, alongside subtle truffle and char‑grill notes. On the palate, the wine displays a powerful yet polished frame: ripe dark fruit—blackberry and plum—flows into graphite and crushed stone minerality, while remarkably fine‑grained tannins and vibrant acidity provide drive and structure. The mid‑palate brings touches of licorice, cedar and warm spice; the finish is long and precise, anchored by a calcareous minerality that speaks of the Margaux terroir. While substantial, the wine retains elegance rather than brute weight, and it is projected to evolve gracefully through 2030–2050.
Château Rauzan‑Ségla, a historic Second Growth estate in the Margaux appellation, dates back to the 17th century and has been under the ownership of the Wertheimer family (of Chanel fame) since 1994. The 51 hectare vineyard sits on fine gravel soils with high drainage, planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot—ideal for crafting refined yet powerful Left‑Bank wines. Under winemaker Nicolas Audebert (first full vintage 2015) the estate has emphasized meticulous vineyard management, low yields (~40 hl/ha in 2015), rigorous sorting, and maturation in high proportions of new French oak to enhance structure and finesse. The style embodies Margaux’s signature elegance: floral perfume, polished tannins, and mineral depth, while maintaining the architecture to age over decades. Collectors regard Rauzan‑Ségla as a benchmark of the appellation, regularly achieving top scores and longevity. Château Rauzan‑Ségla, a historic Second Growth estate in the Margaux appellat
