Chris Deas, Italian Wine Merchants: "WOW, what a wine! The nose alone transports you to the Bolgheri coastline, and the bouquet is among the most pronounced we have experienced in this wine. The slightly cooler and more classic 2018 vintage has presented a more aromatic and refined expression, and in contrast to the 2017s that offered more stewed fruit nuances, there is more Burgundian sensibility to the wine, which captures the classic Sassicaia style with its signature herbaceous and briny undertones. On the palate, there is explosive and generous fruit, yet the wine remains so light on its feet. It has the juiciness to be a crowd pleaser and the depth and precision that will keep wine collectors digging into the glass for more nuances. The beauty of this wine comes with an hour of aeration as it keeps evolving in the glass. Watch for the silky texture and energetic spine. San Guido (Tenuta) Description

Singularly responsible for launching the Super-Tuscan movement, San Guido's Sassicaia-a masterful cuvee of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc-is one of the most sought-after wines in the world. Mario Incisa della Rochetta, along with guidance from Giacomo Tachis (Piero Antinori's winemaker), made enological history and created the Super Tuscan movement when, in 1968, his estate released Sassicaia to great critical acclaim. Believing Toscano was ripe for change, Rochetta in 1944 planted Cabernet Sauvignon at Tenuta San Guido, his small vineyard in the Bolgheri hills. The terrain, similar to that of Graves in Bordeaux, at Tenuta San Guido gave Sassicaia its name, which in the Tuscan dialect means "stony ground."Today Marchese Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta continues the tradition at the Tenuta San Guido estate, where he continues to produce the most elegant Super Tuscan there is!
