The 2010 Barbaresco Gallina is widely regarded as vibrant and intensely aromatic, with luminous medium garnet hues. La Spinetta was founded in 1977 by Giuseppe “Pin” Rivetti and his wife Lidia in the heart of Piedmont, originally celebrated for its single-vineyard Moscato d’Asti. Over time, the family expanded ambitiously into red wine, including Barolo and the top cru of Barbaresco. Their first Barbaresco, Gallina, debuted in 1995 and remains one of their most iconic expressions, alongside Starderi (1996) and Valeirano (1997). The project reflects a deeply held philosophy: respect for terroir, indigenous varietals, and vine-to-bottle craftsmanship. Gallina, planted on calcareous marl interlaced with sands, features old vines and remains unfined and unfiltered, aged for about 20 months with 30% new French oak barriques and further bottle maturation for enhanced elegance and longevity.
