The 2004 vintage of Tignanello is regarded as one of the finest of the decade, combining ripeness, depth, and classical balance. It opens with layered aromas of dark cherries, blackcurrant, and plum, accented by notes of violets, cedar, tobacco, and sweet spice. The palate is rich yet precise, with firm but polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, harmonious finish. A superbly structured wine, it is drinking beautifully now but still capable of further evolution over the next decade.
Marchesi Antinori is one of Italy’s most historic and influential wine families, with a lineage dating back over six centuries. Among their greatest achievements is Tignanello, first introduced in the 1970s as a groundbreaking “Super Tuscan” that broke away from the DOC rules of the time. Produced from a blend dominated by Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it is grown on the estate’s prized Tignanello vineyard in the Chianti Classico hills, a site renowned for its marl-rich soils and ideal exposure.
